Standard Trips:
A typical burial involves a 1.5 hr. long trip, in Massachusetts Bay, then concludes with a short tour of Gloucester Harbor.

Custom Trips:
These trips can take up to 3 hours, depending on location. We often take requests to travel from Rockport to Sandy Bay, or Gloucester to Ipswich and Massachusetts Bay.

Additional Information

Every ceremony is different. Loved ones often choose prayers, readings, flowers, and stories as they wish. Your choice of music can be connected to our sound system for the trip. We will work with you to make this a memorable experience for all. Our vessel accommodates up to 34 passengers.

What should I bring?

We recommend sunscreen, sunglasses, a light jacket (it’s cooler on the water), and your camera! Comfortable, non-slip shoes are ideal for moving around the boat.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?

The King Eider has limited accessibility. Please call us at (978) 283-1979 to discuss your specific needs and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Can I bring food and drinks?

Yes! Feel free to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. We also have light refreshments available for purchase onboard.

What if the weather is bad?

Tours operate rain or shine, but we’ll cancel for unsafe conditions. If we cancel, you’ll receive a full refund or can reschedule for another day.

Are restrooms available?

Yes, the King Eider has onboard restroom facilities for passenger convenience.

What time do the burials at sea leave?

Times are flexible and can be arranged with Captain Gregory when you book.
